Participate & report SSCS Vietnam Chapter's activities at A-SSCC 2013
SIS Lab (VNU-UET) has contributed an important role in IEEE SSCS Vietnam Chapter last year - the establishment of the Chapter. On the occasion of A-SSCC 2013 conference, one of the biggest event of IEEE SSCS, organized in Singapore from 11-13 November 2013, Prof. Xuan-Tu Tran @ SIS Lab has participated and reported the SSCS Vietnam Chapter's activities at the IEEE SSCS meeting. As the Chapter just a newly established (April 2013), there are many activities have been organized such as:
- Seminar meeting on April 4, 2013 in Hanoi with a special talk on Semiconductor Industry Trends …many Challenges …but a wealth of Opportunities" given by Dr. Rakesh Kumar, President of IEEE SSCS (~70 participants).
- Seminar meeting on June 19, 2013 in Hanoi with a DL on "3.1GHz – 8.0GHz Single-Chip CMOS Transceiver for UWB" given by Prof. Howard Luong from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (~30 participants).
- Contribution to the Organization of ICDV 2013 conference which is held in Ho Chi Minh city from 14th to 15th Novermber 2013 (~90 participants; 3 keynotes, 4 invited talks, 24 oral presentations, and 24 poster presentations).
- Member recruitment (~30 IEEE members).
- Mailing list & webpage
- ...
The A-SSCC 2013 has about 400 participants from world wide but there are few Vietnamese participants (1 from Vietnam and 2 other from Korea). I wonder that when Vietnamese researchers (affiliated with Vietnamese Institutions/Companies) will get papers accepted at A-SSCC or ISSCC. The answer is very difficult because of the lack of EDA tools and techno access in this fields. Submissions without silicon will be rejected by the TPC. In fact, there are 6 submissions from Vietnam have been sent to A-SSCC program committee but none of them has been selected due to the above problem. As the Chairman of SSCS Vietnam Chapter, Prof. X.-T. Tran also mentioned this problem at the SSCS meeting and ask to notice this issue for the next A-SSCC which will be held in Cao Hsiung, Taiwan.
