On September 16^th 2019, VNU University of Engineering and Technology (VNU-UET) solemnly held signing ceremony of cooperation agreement between VNU University of Engineering and Technology  and Kanto Gakuin University, Japan led by Prof. Hiroyoshi Kiku – President of Kanto Gakuin University. 

Attending the ceremony, there was the presence of Prof. Nguyen Viet Ha – Rector, Prof. Chu Duc Trinh – Vice-Rector, Prof. Tran Xuan Tu – Director, Department of Science, Technology and International Relations, Dr. Pham Minh Trien – Deputy-Director, Department of Science, Technology and International Relations, Prof. Nguyen Phuong Thai – Director, Department of Academic Affairs, Dr. Dinh Trieu Duong – Dean, Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, Prof. Pham Manh Thang – Vice-Dean, Faculty of Engineering Mechatronics and Automation, Prof. Truong Ninh Thuan – Deputy – Director, School of Aerospace Engineering, Prof. Nguyen Dinh Duc – Dean, Department of Civil Engineering and Transportation.

The signing ceremony between VNU-UET and Kanto Gakuin University, Japan was organized successfully

Based on the strengths and similarities between the VNU University of Engineering and Technology and Kanto Gakuin University, the first signing ceremony between two sides took place on April 12, 2016. According to the signed MOU, this agreement aims to establish cooperation on training and research; specifically, exchanging students and graduate students in academia; coordinating to organize domestic and international conferences.

Kanto Gakuin University has effectively supported the transfer of construction engineering training programs to the VNU University of Engineering and Technology up to now. Accordingly, Kanto Gakuin University has supported to update and perfect the training program, build detailed outlines of each module; participate in scientific research according to the strengths of the two sides; professors from Kanto Gakuin University were sent to lecture and exchange with students and lecturers of VNU-UET on new construction methods and technologies of Japan.

After many years of cooperation, Rector Nguyen Viet Ha has affirmed that this signing is an important step in the cooperative relationship between the two sides. In particular, the signing ceremony will be a new step towards the effective support of Kanto Gakuin University to VNU University of Engineering and Technology in the transfer of construction engineering training program. VNU University of Engineering and Technology will always create favorable conditions to develop the cooperation between the two sides, towards that two sides can integrate international training in the future.

At the ceremony, Prof. Hiroyoshi Kiku said that from 2016, Kanto Gakuin University has signed a cooperation agreement with VNU University of  Engineering and Technology but in the last two years, the cooperation has achieved many positive results, especially in the field of training construction engineer and exchanging lecturers. Currently, many students from Kanto Gakuin University have expressed their desire to learn at the VNU University of Engineering and Technology. In contrast, Kanto Gakuin University also wishes that students of VNU University of  Engineering and Technology can exchange in Japan. Thereby, the cooperation between the two sides will have the opportunity to further develop when more students are exchanged for study and research. On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the VNU University of  Engineering and Technology and the 20th anniversary of the traditional day of VNU University of  Engineering and Technology, Prof. Hiroyoshi Kiku congratulated and thanked the VNU-UET’s leaders and staff for creating favorable conditions for the cooperation between the two sides to develop.

According to the signed MOU, this agreement is valid for 3 years and targets at activities related to student exchange between the two sides. Every year, VNU University of Engineering and Technology and Kanto Gakuin University will send one or two students to Japan or Vietnam every semester to study and participate in research programs. Students will be completely exempted from tuition fees and other learning expenses.

Kanto Gakuin University, founded in 1884, is located in Yokohama province of Japan, has a history of construction and development of more than 130 years, is a famous school in Japan in the field of materials’ surface technology and civil construction technology. For undergraduate, Kanto Gakuin University has 10 faculties with 11,000 students; Postgraduate level has 4 faculties.
