Abstract: The capacitance is one of the most important parameters of extrahigh and ultrahigh voltage transmission lines. The horizontal three-phase line capacitance are determined with consideration of influences causes by earth surface and ground wire. The computation results show that the increase in capacitance value caused by ground wire is very small and can be neglected practically. For horizontal three-phase line, the capacitance of the center phase is much higher than that of the outer phases. This particularity is very important and useful for the studies of corona, electric field, electrostatic unbalance of extrahigh and ultrahigh voltage transmission lines.
